An armed robber is behind bars after lady police detectives sprung into action on Friday afternoon. The female officers saw two men making their getaway after robbing a man in the CBD. The man was robbed at knife-point after being confronted by two males.
The robbers took his cell-phone and cash, and then ran away.
The suspects were then followed by the frantic victim. What they were all unaware of is that three young police ladies from the Ladysmith Detective Service Centre had seen that something suspicious was going on.
The detectives instantly kicked off their shoes and gave chase. The two suspects split up, making their escape in different directions.
One of them entered a salon in an attempt to hide, but the detectives were hot on his heels and ‘trapped’ him in the salon.
Upon wanting to leave the salon, he was shocked to find the officers waiting to arrest him.
A knife and cash that was allegedly taken during the robbery was recovered in his possession. The other robber managed to escape. The 30-year-old suspect that was arrested appeared in court today (Wednesday), facing charges of robbery. Detectives are searching for the other suspect.
