ANC Youth League protests ‘corruption’ at Nquthu

A director at the Nquthu Municipality was fingered out for corruption when the ANC Youth League took to the streets of the town on Friday to protest.

The march, which was legal, started at the Nquthu Plaza and followed a route to the municipal offices.
Mlamuli Molefe of the local ANCYL handed over a list of grievances to Mayor Emily Molefe.
Their concerns included the alleged ‘turning of a blind eye’ to the apparent misdemeanours of a municipal officials who has been accused of stealing a fence belonging to the municipality.
They claimed the municipality has ignored the issue.
Mr Molefe said the municipality had not followed up with any investigation into the alleged corruption even though an investigation had been called for. He demanded that the official replace the stolen fence ‘immediately’.
The municipality was give seven days to respond failing which there ‘would be an intensified march that will see the masses mobilised at schools and the matter would be passed on to the MEC for Co-operative Governance’.
