Arrests for dealing in dagga

The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is around R31,000

Ezakheni police recently arrested two suspects for dealing in dagga.

The arrests were made during ‘stop and search’ operations that were conducted along the D46 in the Machibini area on Friday, September 12, targeting firearm and drug-related crimes.

During the operations, a bus was stopped and the passengers searched.

Dagga with a weight of just over 6kg was found and a 23-year-old passenger was arrested. He faces charges of dealing in dagga.  A second passenger, aged 34, was also arrested after dagga with a weight of just over 24.5kg was found.
The two suspects are believed to be brothers.

They appeared briefly in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 15.
The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is around R31,000.

The police officers involved in the success were Captain BE Buthelezi, Constable LC Mavimbela, Constable M Simelane, Constable NL Hadebe, Constable SP Ntanzi, Constable SB Mbasela, Constable N Mvelase, Student Constable PP Mhlongo and Constable NL Hadebe.
