An empty reservoir at the entrance to Hilldrop has become nothing more than a white elephant.
According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, the reservoir was built three years ago by uThukela Water. “The municipality then took over from uThukela Water and inherited the reservoir, which to date has not been used,” he claimed.
The resident was particularly interested why the reservoir had been built.
“If they aren’t going to use it, why was it built? And does it work? After all, how long can you leave something like this before the equipment breaks and how do they know it doesn’t leak?” he asked.
The municipality’s communication department was contacted for comment, but none was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
