One man has been arrested and has appeared in court after police stopped a stolen vehicle in Weenen.
Sergeant Gumede and Constable Mchunu from the Ladysmith Vehicle Identification Section (VIS) were working in the Weenen area on Tuesday when they spotted a suspicious-looking white Toyota Hi-Ace travelling along the R74.
The vehicle was stopped, checked and found to have been stolen at Seshego on Sunday during a carjacking incident. The 58-year-old driver was arrested and faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle.
The suspect appeared briefly in the Weenen Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where the matter was remanded to Friday, October 24, for a formal bail application hearing. The suspect remains in custody.
