Update: Colenso businessman murdered

They shot him once in the stomach and fled with his cell-phone

Colenso police are investigating a case of murder after a Colenso businessman was gunned down outside his home this morning (Tuesday).

It is believed that at about 4.40am, a 58-year-old Muslim man was on his way to morning prayers when he was confronted by a group of people. They shot him once in the stomach and fled with his cell-phone.

Family members were alerted by the loud bang and rushed the gunshot victim to a local doctor’s rooms for treatment. He was then taken to La Verna Hospital in Ladysmith by Sharaj Ambulance Services. He was placed on life support in the ambulance due to the severity of his injuries, while paramedics and doctors did their best to resuscitate him.

He later died due to his injuries at La Verna Hospital.

The man’s identity is known to the Ladysmith Gazette. However, out of respect to the family and because police have not officially identified the deceased, we have chosen not to reveal his name at this time.
