Load shedding update – What Newcastillians need to know

Residents of Newcastle can rest easy, for now.

It would appear that Eskom has not yet contacted the electrical department to flip the off-switch.

On Sunday, geysers were switched off from 8am to 10pm across all suburbs on request from Eskom, to ease the strain on the provincial grid.

Reportedly, a coal silo at the Majuba power station collapsed, sparking a national electricity crisis.
