A car thief was arrested on Friday by TRT officers after a vehicle was stolen from the parking area at a local mall.
A resident parked his vehicle at the mall on Friday morning and when he returned later in the day, the vehicle was gone. It had been stolen.
The matter was reported to police, and all personnel were alerted to the theft.
Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT) officers who were returning from the Ezakheni area noticed the vehicle travelling along the Helpmekaar Road. They gave chase and the vehicle was brought to a standstill.
The driver was arrested and implements used to break into vehicles were recovered.
The 31-year-old suspect appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (November 10), facing charges of motor vehicle theft.
