Swift action by security guards and police brought to an end the short career of a man who snatched a bag from a truck parked at the taxi rank, Dundee, this afternoon.

The driver had stopped the truck at the rank and the snatcher took the opportunity to help himself to a bag on the back of  the truck.  Security guards gave chase to the man who fled past the Dundee Junior Secondary School towards the open veld and headed for the Craigside settlement.

Guards fired several warning shots with police also in hot pursuit.  The man was nabbed and put in the back of a police van and the bag recovered.

Ironically, police had been attending Station Commander, Col. Philip Makhube’s farewell at Battlefields Country Lodge at the time of the incident. He would have been happy…
