After a crushing defeat at the hands of India last weekend, the Proteas have made a monumental comeback, completely annihilating the West Indies in the 19th match of the Cricket World Cup 2015 in Sydney Australia, breaking record after record in their spectacular innings.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Proteas sailed to victory when the West Indies fell 257 runs short of  South Africa’s massive total of 408 for five wickets. Chasing 409 to win, the West Indies were bowled out for 151 in 33.1 overs at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with captain Jason Holder top-scoring with 56 and Imran Tahir taking five wickets.

South Africa’s 408 for five is the highest team total ever scored in Australia and was the second-highest World Cup total, beaten only by India’s 413 for five against Bermuda at Trinidad in 2007.

Their margin of victory equalled the World Cup record, in terms of runs, set by India in that 2007 match.

South Africa scored 261 in the last 20 overs at 13.05 runs per over.
