Man beaten to death for rape

The suspect broke free and tried to flee but the community members found him

It is alleged that on Saturday, May 30 at approximately 8pm a man attempted raping a woman in Vezunyawo – the Hlathikhulu area of Ntabamhlophe. When she got the opportunity, she screamed for help and nearby community members went to rescue her. The man ran off but the community members chased after him. Once they caught him, they began beating him with sticks. The suspect broke free and tried to flee but the community members found him and beat him to death with sticks. Ntabamhlophe police received the report at 9pm. A case of murder was opened and no arrests have been made. An investigation by Ntabamhlophe detectives is on-going.
