19-year-old Mimosadale armed robbery suspect arrested

The third male jumped over the counter with a knife clutched in his hand, and took airtime, money and a cell phone

One of the three suspects involved in an armed robbery in Mimosadale appeared before the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 28. It has been reported that on Monday, May 25 at approximately 6pm a shopowner was alone when three males entered the shop.

When one of the three closed the burglar gate, another of the suspects fished out a firearm and pointed it at the storeowner. The third male jumped over the counter with a knife clutched in his hand, and took airtime, money and a cell phone. The items are valued at R 3 620.

The incident was reported to the Estcourt police and a case was opened. The Estcourt detectives have begun an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old, one of the three suspects. Members of the Estcourt detectives hope to arrest the outstanding two suspects soon.
