A tragic case of cruelty

A representative of the SPCA described the cruel and heartless chain of events which led to the unnecessary suffering and eventual death of the cat.

According to a report by Vryheid SPCA, the lifeless body of a cat was found in the field near the site of the new hospital where Utrecht Street meets Edward Street.

Unfortunately, the cat had died before SPCA staff were notified and they were unable to rescue the animal.

A representative of the SPCA described the cruel and heartless chain of events which led to the unnecessary suffering and eventual death of the cat.

It is believed that somebody tied a length of blue rope, allegedly much like the type used for baling hay, around the cat’s neck and the other end to a small bush in the field where the feline’s lifeless body was later discovered.

Cases of animal cruelty can be reported to the SPCA at 034 980 8888.
