Two suspected robbers have been arrested and appeared before the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Monday, June 15.
Police were informed of the pair that was driving a gold Mazda with Ladysmith registration plates that were allegedly robbing people in the central business district.

On Friday, June 12 police received a tip off about the suspects’ whereabouts and proceeded to the taxi rank in Connor Street. An empty vehicle was parked there and police monitored it until the occupants returned and drove away from the taxi rank.

“Police stopped the vehicle and searched all four occupants. Two suspects were found in possession of cell phones, cash covered in paper and name tags belonging to other people,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso.

The two suspects, aged 30 and 40, were arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property.
“One of the victims was able to positively identify one of the suspects. A case has been opened and is under investigation,” added Lt Col Mabaso.
