Egerton pupils become polar bears in icy pool

Learners braved the icy water to show their support for the animals at the kennels

Egerton’s Grade 4 to 7 pupils raised money recently, and collected dog and cat food for the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL). They did this via a Polar Bear Swim, with every learner bringing a donation in order to participate in the swim.

Learners braved the icy water to show their support for the AACL.

On Thursday morning, pupils crowded around the school swimming pool and watched as a few of their own, as well as some teachers, jumped into the freezing water for charity.

As soon as the swimmers were out of the pool, they were handed warm towels and hot chocolate (that tasted oh so good) to generate some much-needed body heat.

Freezing fun that will be appreciated by the furry friends at the kennels. Well done, pupils and teachers!
