St Doms takes the top spots in national tourney

Eighteen pupils and four staff members from Curro St Dominic’s Academy Newcastle recently participated in a national Curro tournament in Durbanville, Western Cape.

The pupils were selected to represented the Curro KwaZulu-Natal team earlier this year. The teachers acted as coaches and managers of the various teams.

Teams from Curro schools across the country went head-to-head in an epic battle for the top spot.

The competition was tough, but the players put on a brave face.

The u/18 girls’ netball team played exceptionally well and improved with every game.

On the hockey field, the players integrated well into their respective teams.

The u/15 boys’ hockey team placed third overall, with the girls’ team placing second. Both the u/18 boys’ and girls’ hockey teams secured a win for the school.

Congratulations to the following pupils on being selected to the All Star team: Mr J Jacobs, Janè van Dyk, Thabo Zulu, Jordan Kinsley, Seth Wade and Joshua de Beer.

The school is incredibly proud of its players for their dedication and sportsmanship on and off the field.
