Reading into a literary haven
Haseena and Shameema Patel dreamed of forming a book exchange club to resurrect a passion for reading; a cause they thought would benefit the community. The dream has now become a reality, as the sisters found a location.
Hidden in the pages of books lies a world of dreams and adventure, a world where anything is possible and imagination runs free.
In 2014, Haseena and Shameema Patel dreamed of forming a book exchange club to resurrect a passion for reading; a cause they thought would benefit the community.
The dream has now become a reality, as the sisters found a location.
“Impuphu has allowed us to use one of their side stores,” said Haseena, thrilled the book club is now taking shape.
Armed with a selection of genres to feed the average book junkie’s literary addiction, Shameema said they were hoping to open the book exchange club‘s doors in two weeks’ time.
“It is really exciting. It was a vision we had and it is now becoming a reality. This is for the community and there will be no membership fees,” she emphasised.
Enthusiastic readers need only to bring a book to the club in order to exchange it for another.
“Books are expensive and this will give people the opportunity to continue having access to books,” Haseena said.
At the moment, the sisters are preparing the empty store that will become a literary haven for Newcastillians.
“A set of shelves has been sponsored to us, but we are looking for two more sets of shelves for the books,” Shameema said.
