Colenso police have made an appeal to the public to assist them with their investigation into skeletal remains found lying in bushes near the Tugela River on a farm situated along the Colenso/Pieters road.
The human remains, believed to be those of a man, were found by a passerby on Sunday, June 28.
Colenso SAPS are now investigating an inquest case.
Clothing which was found with the skeletal remains appears in the attached photo.
Anyone who recognises the clothing and suspects they may know the identity of the deceased is requested to make contact with the investigating officer, Constable Niranijan Moonsami, on 036-422-2222 or 076-461-6879.
