Local fashion designer represents at the Dundee July

LOCAL fashion designer Sbonelo Mazibuko flew Vryheid’s flag high this past weekend when some of his pieces made it to the top five in the fashion categories at the Dundee July.

Sbonelo said that his inspiration theme for the Dundee July was ujamaa which means working together as a family.

This inspiration is based on eco-active creative ways of working with found materials and existing objects to show respect for the scarcity of resources,preserving and building long term relationships with endangered cultures and the ecosystem.

With his pieces, Sbonelo aims to play an active role in preserving the earth and its degrading of certain cultures by addressing issues such as sustainability.

The focus is on finding ways in which societies can work together to solve these ecological problems and the key facts were Cop17, global warming, recycling paper and saving the trees.
