A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged after police officers recovered two television sets from a home in Forderville. Musafari Ndahurtuli was arrested on Wednesday, July 22 after police officers received information about suspected stolen property.
They followed-up on the information and arrived at a house in Forderville where they met the suspect. After introducing themselves, the police officers requested a search of the house and the suspect agreed.
“The officers found a flat screen television. They further searched the house and noticed that something was covered with a blanket. They removed it and recovered another TV,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso.
When the suspect was asked to produce receipts to prove he was the owner of or had purchased the TVs, he failed to do so. “He told police that the TVs were brought to his home by two unknown males who asked him to keep the TVs, which they will collect on Friday. The suspect was arrested,” added Lt Col Mabaso.
The man appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court last week; he faces a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
