Walking the distance for CANSA
The date for the annual CANSA Relay For Life (RFL) has been confirmed.
The date for the annual CANSA Relay For Life (RFL) has been confirmed.
Come October 10, CANSA will be hosting its largest fund-raiser of the year in the quest to defeat cancer.
However, to ensure the project’s success, CANSA needs the full support of the community.
“It is a project where people do not rest and walk together for a cancer free world,” said Estella Naicker, CANSA’s community mobiliser.
CANSA RFL is a 12-hour event, where teams walk around a track from sunset to sunrise.
Mona Maharaj, chairperson of the RFL committee, said it was imperative for Newcastillians to show their support by physically participating in the event.
“By walking, you are showing your support to cancer survivors, supporting those with cancer and supporting the cause to find a cure,” she said.
North City Wholesalers has risen to the challenge and has entered the first team. A staggering 25 employees from the business will be walking the distance for CANSA’s RFL.
“We have been participating in RFL for the past three years, because a lot of people are dying from cancer and we have seen someone close to us die from it,” said Viresh Mathadeen from North City.
Teams can enter by contacting either Mona Maharaj on 073 756 2480 or the CANSA offices on 034 315 1751.
