Newcastle’s 41ers celebrate long-standing members

Newcastle’s 41ers Association got together to celebrate the achievement of two of its long-standing members on Tuesday, August 4.

Being an organisation for young men serving the community, Round Tablers reaching the age of 40 are ‘axed’ by the table to join ranks with the 41ers.

Colin Glasspool and Gordon Dowsett, who were also founder members of Round Table Newcastle, have been 41ers for the past 41 years.”Time flies” said Mr Glasspool, “but I’m sure glad I was a Tabler.” This achievement is unprecedented among the ranks of Newcastle’s 41ers.

“This is a historical occasion; they have spent almost their entire lives between the Round Table and our 41ers club. It is absolutely amazing. You guys are amazing, we thank you immensely for your service,” said 41’ers president, Paul Byrom.

The 41ers Association was founded on the ideals of keeping unity and fellowship between members. This achievement bears testimony to the success of the 41ers as a whole, in living according to their motto; ‘May the hinges of friendship never rust. May the chains of fellowship that bind us together remain unbroken’.
