Dundee Hindu Temple honours much-loved Guru
The huge audience was enthralled by the youth group in putting together such an entertaining evening.
The Dundee Hindu Temple youth group put on a splendid programme to honour much-loved Guru, Umeshvaran Nagiah, last Saturday.
Hindu rituals, in keeping with Guru Purnima, were performed by the children of the youth group. The children, who were as young as four, performed beautiful dances and enacted a hilarious sketch depicting the habits and demeanour of the Guru and temple members.
Guru Umeshvaran has dedicated 27 years of his life to serving Dundee and surrounding communities. He has united north and south Indians as one family. The guest of honour, Bishop Xaba, graced the function with his presence, and paid a beautiful tribute to the Guru and called him, “my brother”.
They have a long-standing friendship and have shared many good moments, both spiritual and personal. The huge audience was enthralled by the youth group in putting together such an entertaining evening. Praises were in abundance for the youth committee, which is an integral part of the Dundee Hindu Temple.
Geetha Dooki, Hindu Temple secretary, speaking on behalf of the Dundee Hindu temple, complimented the youth group for their superb efforts, and wished them much more success.
The youth group thanked all those who sponsored in cash and kind, to make this function the success that it was.
