VIDEO: Die Vensterfees opens its ‘windows’ to everyone

Die Vensterfees invited school pupils from across Newcastle to join in the fun over August 13 and 14- for free.

Die Vensterfees invited school pupils from across Newcastle to join in the fun over August 13 and 14- for free.

The diverse multicultural turnout was a first for the Newcastle event. Over 650 pupils, from pre-primary to Grade 6,  attended on the first day, and organisers estimate to accommodate approximately 2000 during the course of the event.

Pupils were treated to a performance by ‘Sonja en Tjokker’, singing, dancing and interacting with the entertaining duo throughout the show.

“This is a first for KZN and South Africa as well. We want to encourage the love of theatre, and we are opening our ‘windows’ to everyone. We want to mend and build bridges between all races and denominations,” said chairperson of the organising committee, Huyser Koch.
