Endumeni workers to meet today… meanwhile, a Mayoral change is on the card at Umzinyathi

A drama in Dundee... again.... and Umzinyathi as Mayoral wrangle continues

Yet more drama is expected at Endumeni Municipality and already there is a strong police and security presence outside the building.

It is believed the workers’ union are demanding more than the 7% wage increase as negotiated between the Local Government Association of South Africa and the union.

However, it is believed that a meeting at 10am today in the Moth Hall will also discuss a senior manager who has been instrumental in taking action against errant officials and workers.

This follows political wrangling at the Umzinyathi District Municipality with news that the ANC was moving to recall Mayor, Rev Dr James Mthethwa.  However, the letter was withdrawn before a Council meeting as it was said that the NFP Deputy Mayor, Ms Madonsella, would have sided with the Mayor resulting in a vote of confidence for the Mayor.

However ANC-insiders say Mayor Mthethwa will definitely be replaced.  Speculation is that Endumeni Mayor, Thulani Mahaye will take over as District Mayor leaving the Council to elect a new Endumeni Mayor.
