A 29-year-old suspect was arrested after a report of theft was made to the police last Wednesday, August 12.
According to the complainant from Estcourt Christian Centre Church in Good Street, he left the storeroom for a short while.
Later that day, he went back to the church and discovered an unknown man inside the storeroom.
He approached the suspect and asked him what he was doing there and the suspect responded by saying he was looking for the job.
The man soon noticed a green saw in the suspect’s hand, a lot like the one that belonged to the church.
The complainant further asked the suspect where did he get the saw from and he answered: ‘it belongs to me’ and fled the scene.
The matter was reported at Estcourt Police Station and an investigation began.
The investigation led to an arrest arrest. The man appeared before the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 24 on charges of theft.
