A 56-year-old man in the Emmaus area was arrested after he was found in possession of an unlicensed revolver on Thursday.
Officers from Upper Tugela Borderline Control and Ladysmith TRT made the arrest.
The suspect briefly appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The firearm will be sent away for ballistic testing to determine whether it has been used in any crime in the country.
