Successful seventh Relay for Life wraps up

Organiser Anil Sookraj declared that the Relay was a great success and an amount of more than R120 000 had been raised this year

Song, dance, cheers, applause and prize giving concluded the seventh annual Cansa Relay for Life at 9am this morning.

Organiser Anil Sookraj declared that the Relay was a great success and an amount of more than R120 000 had been raised this year.

Relayers gathered at Forderville Primary School sport track yesterday, Saturday, September 5 at 3pm to begin the 18-hour Relay.

Throughout the night Relayers walked around the track but paused for the Luminaria Ceremony, where bags adored with messages in memory of those who have died were lined along the track and the candles inside them lit.

A beautiful fireworks display lit up the night sky too. On Sunday morning, spirits were still on a high as the Relay concluded and prizes were handed out to teams and individuals.
