Wrapped up in the wonder of wildlife

For the second year running, Blackrock Casino will partner with the KwaZulu-Natal Hunter’s Association to host the annual Venison Dinner on October 3.

The purpose of the event is to raise funds for wildlife conservation in South Africa. The association aims to promote conservation and raises funds for non-profit conservation organisations.

The nature of the organisation’s work entails advocating knowledge, love and respect for wildlife. In addition, members seek to to assist and cooperate with authorities and landowners in the conservation, distribution and sustainable utilisation of wildlife.

The organisation upholds a strict code of conduct and also serves to promote the proficiency grading of all members. Conduct training, educational courses and source hunting opportunities are at the disposal of its members.

“We have, as a matter of urgency, focused on managing our resources, protecting our wetlands, eradicating alien invader plants, and resolving the threat of problem birds and animals. These objectives can only be achieved by commitment and dedication from the members of our association. The more people involved, the smaller the burden and the bigger the impact,” said chairman of the Newcastle branch, Geoff Muller.

Blackrock Casino Marketing Manager, Veneshrie Chetty said the team was proud to be a part of such an amazing initiative.

“Through the education of our youth, local communities, landowners and the public at large, we can address these threats and positively influence outcomes, she concluded.

Tickets are on sale at the casino’s cash desk for only R160 per person. The fee includes a dinner of various venison meats and more. There will also be lucky draws and amazing prizes up for grabs.
