Are you still paying towards the SPCA?
"I realised that even though the SPCA closed down in March, I have still been paying R10 a month to that organisation"
After reading about the Estcourt Animal Shelter’s official opening in the Estcourt News in early September, it prompted Marion Koopman to take a closer look at her municipal account.
“I realised that even though the SPCA closed down in March, I have still been paying R10 a month to that organisation,” she explained.
The resident decided it was time to support the Estcourt Animal Shelter instead and urges other residents to inspect their municipal accounts too.
“Should you wish to stop the R10 donation to an organisation that no longer serves our community; you need to contact the municipality to have the cost removed from your account. Hopefully you will then donate to the new Estcourt Animal Shelter where the committee members give up their free time to serve our community,” added Ms Koopman. Umtshezi Acting Municipal Manager Elphas Dladla was also asked to weigh in on this issue.
“This voluntary contribution was paid to the SPCA however; the SPCA has now been closed. Customers are therefore requested to contact our offices if they want to discontinue with their donation,” said Mr Dladla.
He added that the Estcourt Animal Shelter committee members may approach his office with a request for the funds contributed via municipal accounts.
