Don’t overlook leaks and bursts

Uthukela District Municipality wants to remind residents to report water and sewer leaks and bursts to the call centre by phoning 0860 104 257

Water pipe bursts and sewer leaks affect us all at some time and if left neglected causes a chain-effect of negative consequences.

Reservoirs run dry when a burst water pipe is not reported or repaired timeously and millions of litres of water are contaminated when sewage spills into storm water drains and water sources.

To curb these scenarios, Uthukela District Municipality wants to remind residents to report water and sewer leaks and bursts to the call centre by phoning 0860 104 257.

The resident should supply adequate information about the exact problem and location as well as request a reference number. If no action is taken after 48 hours, residents may contact the Environmental Health Officer on 076 062 6306 between 8am and 3pm Monday to Friday.
