Water-shedding dilemma hits hard

Modelkloof left without water since 4pm yesterday

While residents are waiting for their allocated daily water supply to pour out of their taps, uThukela engineers are experiencing endless hurdles providing water supply.

According to uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza, “Engineers are experiencing electrical outages, hence not enough water is able to be pumped through.”

At this stage, uThukela is waiting for engineers to give a time as to when water will be restored in the affected areas.

Modelkloof residents have been without water since yesterday, 4pm. According to Mkhonza, Modelkoof residents were sent SMSs last night, informing them of the crisis. However, some residents are saying it’s all lies; they didn’t receive any SMSs.

“If uThukela knew, why have there been no water trucks until now?” fumed an angry Modelkloof resident.

Frustration is boiling up, as life is becoming impossible having to go to work without having a bath / shower and not being able to cook a meal.
