Jenkyn Street to be resurfaced in future

While the road surface is in a better condition than previously, Cllr Meiring said the road surface would be repaired.

Jenkyn Street is a bumpy ride, despite the new surface.

DA councillor, Bertie Meiring explained the poor quality of the road was due to interruptions caused by moving the heavy machinery used to fix the road to other areas.

Allegedly, the contractor started rehabilitation of the street before authorisation.

While the road surface is in a better condition than previously, Cllr Meiring said the road surface would be repaired.

“It was recommended to repair the road in the 2017/2018 budget. Approximately 200 millimetres of tar will be removed and the road will then be fully rehabilitated.”

Residents were asked to be patient, until the matter was resolved.
