THE Democratic Alliance at AbaQulusi Municipality has on October 15 written the KZN Human Settlement and Public Works MEC, Ravi Pillay, urging him to institute a forensic investigation on the allocation of RDP houses and the status of its occupants at AbaQulusi Municipality. This follows the DA’s recent door to door visit at Emadoshini where it was shocked at the appalling conditions people live under.

In a statement, the DA’s Thomas Hadebe, DA Zululand West Constituency head, said, “The sense of hopelessness and defeat is a sad reminder that some sections of our society are yet to experience what it is like to live in a proper home with running water and proper sanitation. The people in this area feel neglected.”

He said that the community accuse some councillors of selling RDP houses while they suffer.

Mr Hadebe said, “They claim the ruling party only comes to them during the elections season and make empty promises to lure them into voting for them.

“We will not fold our arms when people are suffering under the ANC government.”

The DA asked MEC Pillay to investigate these allegations and ensure that those found guilty are brought to book.
