Swimmers stroke in the medals

All six competitive swimmers went to the age group gala in Newcastle the past weekend where they could improve their previous times or get new times on the data base.

Dundee Aquatics Swimming Club has started the season on a good note with 113 swimmers registering for the 2015-2016 season.

“We are very happy to have six swimmers who registered for competitive swimming,” said the club’s Vernoica Botes.
“All swimming lessons are up and running and everybody are having lots of fun at the pool every afternoon. Thank you to our coaches, Lee van Heerden, Sonja Kelbrick and Stephen Joubert that are spending their afternoons at the pool training our children and promoting swimming as a sport.”

Estiaan Botes, Philippa Lee and Cameron Meintjies competed in the Uthukhela Short Course Championships in Vryheid on October 30-31.

The weather was perfect for swimming and the swimmers had a great opportunity to do their best.
Congratulations to Estiaan Botes who received a gold medal for 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle and silver for 100m backstroke for boys 12-13 years.

Cameron Meintjies also received a silver medal for 100m breaststroke for girls12-13yrs.

Well done to Philippa Lee who came 6th in 100m backstroke and 8th in the 100m individual medley, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle for girls, 12-13 years.

They all had lots of fun and are looking forward to the Amajuba Long Course Championships from December 5-6 in Newcastle.
