No closure in sight for Xiaoming Zhang

Justice is still being sought for the death of Xiaoming 'Steven' Zhang, whose life was brutally cut short when he was shot on May 29.

Justice is still being sought for the death of Xiaoming ‘Steven’ Zhang, whose life was brutally cut short when he was shot on May 29.

Mr Zhang was killed by two men during an armed robbery at his factory in the Industrial Area, leaving his family and the Chinese community reeling in shock.

Although the two murder suspects were arrested on June 2, mere days after the tragic killing, the court case has been postponed on six different occasions.

Alex Liu, a representative from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, said the case was set to continue in 2016.

“We are monitoring the progress of the case. Despite it having being postponed, while the suspects are still in custody and investigations continue, we must have confidence that the police will ensure justice is served,” Mr Liu said.

While the date is yet to be confirmed, the two suspects will appear in the Madadeni High Court in February 2016.
