Job seekers are warned of a scam currently doing its rounds that tricks people into applying for police trainee jobs at the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The scam artists inform job seekers of the ‘available posts’ via SMS. Police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig said that there are currently no new vacancies available being advertised from SAPS for entry level trainees or police officers.
“Should there be vacancies/posts it will be advertised in recognised newspapers not via SMS and the application form can be made available at no cost at all police stations,” she added.
The public is warned not to become victims of job scams. Police have instituted an investigation and are hard at work tracking the perpetrators. If you who have fallen victim to this fresh wave of online recruitment scams, which have surfaced you are urged to report it at your nearest police station.
