What is the price of ensuring justice?
For Robin Waite, victim of a burglary at the end of November, R10 000 to bring the perpetrator into the hands of the law is a small amount to pay.
“We gave the guy a few chances before. Now I am offering a reward for his arrest and prosecution.”
Mr Waite is convinced he knows who was responsible for the burglary at farm, La Belle Esperance, during which tens of thousands of Rands’ worth of items were looted.
Many of the stolen items hold sentimental value to Mr Waite.
“I collect many things; my watches were stolen and my cameras.”
The full list of stolen goods is too long to mention, although it includes numerous Canon cameras, a Colt handgun, Krugerrands, antiques, international currency, jewellery and knives, acquired over many years from a host of places.
Mr Waite has provided the Newcastle SAPS with this list.
The burglary has shattered the relative peace the Waite family enjoy on their farm, nestled along the Kwaggasnek route.
“The man who is responsible had a family member who also stole from us. She was fired.”
The burglary at La Belle Esperance was the second within a few hours, preceded by the burglary at the Majuba battle site.
