The firearms recovered in Frere by Estcourt police.
While conducting routine patrols in Frere on Wednesday, December 2, police nabbed two men who were in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
At about 8.30pm, officers stopped a vehicle travelling along the gravel road near the Heavy Tree area. When the vehicle was stopped, the two occupants gave off suspicious reactions and threw items out of the vehicle’s window.
Police discovered that the items the two suspects, aged 29 and 30, attempted getting rid of was an unlicensed 38 revolver and a 9mm pistol including ammunition, which police later recovered.
The suspects were taken into custody and appeared before the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Friday, December 4.
