Two dachshund puppies were allegedly stolen and attempted to be sold by two men on Sunday night.
It is believed the two men initially failed attempt to sell them, at the Pick n Pay (O’ Crusty’s centre) in Pioneer Park. The men later proceeded to a residential area to try and bargain for them there.
The men approached a resident visiting her family at the time, and tried to sell the puppies to her at R50 each.
“I told the men I can’t buy the puppies because I already have puppies of my own,” said the resident.
The men then threatened to abandon the puppies on the side of the road, or mutilate them to use for fishing bait if the resident didn’t buy them.
Horrified at their threat, the concerned resident purchased the puppies. “I couldn’t let them do that!” exclaimed the resident.
In an attempt to reunite the puppies with their owner, the resident took to social media.
Should the puppies not be claimed, the resident said she would find new homes for them.
