A case of attempted murder has been opened following a stabbing at Farmers Hall on December 29.
An SPCA worker was on his way home when he faced death head-on.
“He was about 20 metres away from our gates when these men attacked him. Another staff member rushed to help him and brought him back to our office, where we proceeded to phone the ambulance for assistance,” said SPCA chairman, Heather Gero.
Lizzy Arumugam from Newcastle SAPS corporate communications said the victim was on his way home from work when two men attacked him. The victim sustained four stab wounds to the neck, upper chest, face and head. He managed to call for help and was transported to hospital for treatment.
No suspects have been apprehended yet.
Further investigations are under way.
Newcastle SAPS warned the community not to walk alone in the open field next to Farmers Hall.
