Months after a dachshund was beaten to death at a home in oSizweni, little information regarding the whereabouts of the culprit has come to light.

On November 5, a family witnessed their dog being beaten to death with a brick. According to the owner, his neighbour was responsible for the senseless act.

SPCA Inspector, Elize van Rooyen, said they have been unsuccessful in tracking down the perpetrator. Despite travelling to oSizweni to confront him, information received from locals indicated the culprit did not reside where the dog’s owner said he did.

“No one knows where he lives,” said Ms van Rooyen.

Anyone with information regarding the incident are advised to forward the details to ncschools@caxton.co.za, to be passed on to the relevant parties.

Report any form of animal cruelty to Newcastle SPCA on 034 318 2346. Alternatively, visit their offices on 1 Sampson Street, Barry Hertzog Park.
