Colita’s Capricorn Road dubbed as toxic
Overgrown trees, litter, overflowing drains, murky water and blocked gutters are amongst some of the concerns, residents as well as pedestrians, are experiencing
While students, parents and teachers looked forward to returning to school, those of Estcourt Primary School where nauseated by the thought of the condition of the road.

Human faeces are seen overflowing from a drain, floating down the road and into the Little Bushmans River. Both a disgusting sight and smell meets you as you enter Capricorn Road in Colita.

Overgrown trees, litter, overflowing drains, murky water and blocked gutters are amongst some of the concerns, residents as well as pedestrians, are experiencing.

“The strong, sickening stench, which fills the air is unbearable,” said one resident. Residents want the matter to be resolved urgently.
Commenting on these concerns Acting Municipal Manager, Elphas Dladla said: “The bridge was cleaned in November last year after a complaint was received. This blockage occurred after the recent flooding, however the team from the civil department has been sent to unblock it.” It will be highly appreciated if the community could notify the civil department (036 342 7800) when the bridge needs attention,” added Mr Dladla.
