Ladysmith anglers secure league and knock-out titles
Ladysmith Angling Club dominated the NFWAA Leagues, claiming both the league and knock-out trophies.
The NFWAA Atlas Towlines League was won by Ladysmith Angling Club, which finished first in four of the five league outings.
Their perfect record was blemished only by Itec Freespool in the fourth league outing.
The heaviest scaled fish of the season, a 5.520kg carp, was caught at Richgate Park by Shervin Ramadu of Chelmsford Angling Club.
Ladysmith’s Sathar Khan claimed the non-scaled category after landing a 10.6kg barbel.
Ladysmith dominates league season
The race for Angler of the Year went down to the wire, with Sathar Khan and Amith Pullen of Itec Freespool tied on 51 points each. Sathar was declared the winner after catching more fish.
Sudesh Singh of Ladysmith finished third with 42 points.
Sean McArthur won the senior angler title, while the junior and female categories were won by Nikhil Pooni of Chelmsford and Zenith Khan of Docrats respectively.
The final of the Zamamena knock-out competition was once again a tussle between Ladysmith and Itec Freespool.
During the outing, Charles Carls of Itec Freespool won the heaviest non-scaled prize, while Prenesh Pandoy of Ladysmith claimed the scaled category prize.
A valiant and committed performance by Itec Freespool was, however, not enough to dethrone a resilient Ladysmith, who once again walked away with both the league and knock-out trophies.
Chairman Vish Govinder thanked all the clubs for their part in ensuring another successful season.
He also thanked league sponsor Pranesh Kara of Atlas Towlines and Ashley Singh of Zamamena for their support of the knock-out competition.
