A 35-year-old suspect has been arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old on November 26, 2015.

Police spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela, said police were notified by the staff of Madadeni Provincial Hospital of the alleged murder. The victim sustained a fatal stab wound to the neck. Family members had already identified the victim, as well as the identity of the suspect.

“On January 18, Madadeni Crime Prevention Unit received information that vigilantes had found the suspect and were on their way to serve justice to him,” said Captain Magudulela.

Police managed to get the situation under control before any more blood was shed, and the suspect was arrested.

The accused appeared at Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on January 19 where his request for bail was denied.

Police investigations continue.
