Police have released new details in the case of a business owner, who was charged for attempted murder while allegedly protecting his shop against a robbery on January 15.
According to spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela, the alleged suspects were arrested on attempted robbery charges.
“The case of attempted murder were provisionally withdrawn, as police investigators are waiting for results from Gun Shot Residue evidence taken from the firearm, to prove who the gun belonged to and who indeed fired the shot, which left one of the suspects seriously injured,” he confirmed.
All three accused appeared in court on January 17, but the case was postponed to February 1, due to outstanding evidence.
The two men accused of attempted robbery tried to apply for bail, but the state opposed. They will remain in police custody until the case has been heard.
Police investigations continue.
