Stolen Toyota Hilux found in the bushes

Police are still investigating the theft of the vehicle

The Ladysmith Vehicle Identification Section (VIS) held an operation in Weenen on Thursday, targeting stolen vehicles. While in the Maqomfini area, police spotted a red Toyota Hilux without a licence disc.

Someone had attempted to hide the vehicle in the bushes and after police inspected the vehicle, it emerged that it had been stolen in Ekuvukeni days earlier, on January 22. The vehicle was stolen during the night while parked at the owner’s home.

Police are still investigating the theft of the vehicle.

Police have noticed a recent trend in the theft of motor vehicles. Vehicles being targeted are older makes, particularly Toyota and Nissan 1400 bakkies.

Take extra precautions to secure your property when parked in the CBD and while parked at home overnight.

Take the time to double-check whether your vehicle is properly locked and that no one suspicious is watching you or your vehicle.
