A 25-year-old man was arrested following a murder in Amiel Park, on January 22.
According to police reports, the suspect and the victim had an argument at the victim’s house. The suspect allegedly then strangled her to death, before fleeing the scene. He later handed himself over to the police, and was charged.
He appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on January 25, where he confessed and pleaded guilty to all charges. He will remain in police custody until sentencing.
Police investigations continue.
