A case of murder was opened for investigation at Bergville SAPS.
On Saturday, February 20, acting on intelligence-driven information about the whereabouts of the murder suspect, Upper Tugela Borderline officers arrested a 21-year-old suspect in the Ethunzini area.
The suspect was found in possession of a CZ pistol with 37 live rounds of ammunition.
He appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday) on charges of murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any other crime in the country.
Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni (KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner) praised the officers for the arrest of the murder suspect and the recovery of the unlicensed firearm. “This indicates that policemen are committed in making sure that all perpetrators of crime are brought to book,” she said.
