Ezakheni cops clamp down on firearm offenders
Both firearms will undergo ballistic testing to ascertain whether they have been used in any crimes in the country

Ezakheni police recently made two arrests for firearm-related offences and both suspects have appeared in court.
A 30-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday night after being found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition. This after Ezakheni Visible Policing officers roped in the assistance of the Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT) to conduct a search of a premises in the St Chad’s area.
The suspect appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Thursday) on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In another incident, Ezakheni detectives were questioning a suspect in connection with an incident in which he allegedly pointed a firearm at a person and thereafter assaulted the person as well. Upon conducting a search for the firearm, it was found hidden in a small Zulu pot at his premises.
The 48-year-old suspect also appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, pointing of a firearm and assault.
Both firearms will undergo ballistic testing to ascertain whether they have been used in any crimes in the country.
